“LOW T” – TESTOSTERONE — IN MEN

Over the past 10 to 20 years the pharmaceutical industry has been using synthetic hormones as anti-aging elixirs to treat “Low T” – Testosterone — in men and “Low E/P” – Estrogen and Progesterone — in women.

According to a 2006 article in the Journal of Endocrinology and Metabolism, testosterone levels in men decrease by 1% per year as they age. There are a number of causes of reduced testosterone, including aging, obesity, type-2 diabetes and drugs like steroids and opiates.

Although testosterone received FDA approval in 1953 to treat hypogonadism in men, big pharma advertising campaigns expanded after 2000 to treat what has become known as “Low T” or Low Testosterone during aging and andropause. While “Low T” is defined clinically as blood testosterone levels below 220 nanograms per deciliter, many physicians are prescribing Testosterone drugs as tablets, injections, skin patches or gels, without conducting blood tests, to treat the symptoms of fatigue, depressed mood, loss of sexual drive, loss in muscle strength, and an increase in body fat.

AbbVie, the Abbott subsidiary that makes the market leader, Androgel® lists “Low T” as one of the 5 important health risks facing men, along with high cholesterol, high blood pressure, high blood sugar, and high levels of prostate specific antigen. With expanding marketing efforts to treat “Low T” the number of prescriptions for testosterone drugs has tripled since 2001 and the sales of Testosterone-boosting drugs has increased to over $2 billion per year.

However, Testosterone overtreatment in men has also led to serious side effects including (i) a significant increase in the risk of heart attacks, (ii) a significant increase in red blood cells in the bloodstream and (iii) a decrease in the size of testicles, due to the loss of endogenous testosterone production.

In January, 2014, a clinical study conducted by UCLA, the National Institutes of Health, and Consolidated Research, Inc., detailed the increased risk of heart disease within 90 days of filling testosterone prescriptions as follows. In more than 7,000 men over the age of 65 the rate of heart attacks doubled. In more than 48,000 middle-aged men with a previous history of heart disease, the rate of heart attacks nearly tripled.

In contrast this same study found that drugs used to treat erectile dysfunction, such as Viagra® and Cialis®, did not increase heart risks.

So how should men combat the symptoms of aging, including fatigue, depression, increase in body fat, and decrease in muscle strength? According to findings presented at the annual meeting of the Endocrine Society in 2012, obese men who lost an average of 17 pounds saw their testosterone levels increase by 15%. Heavy alcohol consumption also lowers blood testosterone levels so drinking inmoderation will serve to maintain “T” levels.

According to Dr. Scheele, Factor4 Weight Control® provides all that is needed for men to maintain vigorous health, including normal testosterone levels, during the aging process:

  • Factor4 not only helps men lose excess body weight, but also helps men to rebalance their metabolic pathways to ensure that testosterone levels remain within the normal range.
  •  Factor4 also builds muscle, which increases pep, energy, activity, stamina, endurance and performance.
  • Factor4 boosts energy, which eliminates fatigue, and provides feelings of comfort, satisfaction and well-being that eliminate depression and mood swings.
  • Factor4 promotes the healthy growth of hair and nails.
  • Factor4 combats stress-related disorders including anxiety, anger, rage, aggression and post-traumatic stress disorder.
  • Factor4 helps combat chronic degenerative diseases associated with the metabolic syndrome, including obesity, hypertension, hypercholesterolemia, type-2 diabetes, and cardiovascular disease.
  • Factor4 helps combat inflammatory disease and has been observed in several cases to lower Prostate Specific Antigen (PSA) associated with prostatitis and benign prostatic hypertrophy.
  • Factor4 promotes healthy lifestyles, including increased satiety, improved diet, exercise, sleep, attitude, and less dependency on sugar, caffeine and alcohol.

“LOW E/P” – ESTROGEN/PROGESTERONE – IN WOMEN

In the 1990s and 2000s middle-aged women went through their own trial taking synthetic hormones, prescription estrogens and progesterone, to treat the symptoms of menopause in an effort to maintain youthful health and beauty. By 2002 clinical studies showed that these hormones raise the risk of stroke, heart disease, life-threatening blood clots and invasive breast cancer in healthy women.

In a manner similar to men, women may likewise use Factor4 Weight Control® to maintain vigorous health during the aging process.

  • Factor4 not only helps women lose excess body weight, but also helps women rebalance their metabolic pathways to support estrogen and progesterone levels during aging.
  • Factor4 also builds muscle, which increases pep, energy, activity, stamina, endurance and performance.
  • Factor4 boosts energy, which eliminates fatigue, and provides feelings of comfort, satisfaction and well-being that eliminate depression and mood swings.
  • Factor4 combats stress-related disorders including anxiety, anger, and aggression..
  • Factor4 helps combat chronic degenerative diseases associated with the metabolic syndrome, including obesity, hypertension, hypercholesterolemia, type-2 diabetes, and cardiovascular disease.
  • Factor4 improves beauty health by promoting the healthy growth of hair, and nails.
  • Factor4 promotes healthy lifestyles, including increased satiety, improved diet, exercise, sleep, attitude, and less dependency on sugar, caffeine and alcohol.
